Bereishit Parents & Young Children Cohort

Please fill out this form and click submit to register for our October- December 2024 Bereishit cohort.

The Bereishit Parents & Young Children program is starting its next cohort in October 2024. The program has two components: 1) a facilitated conversation for parents and 2) simultaneous Jewish programming and childcare for pre-kinder kids whose parents attend the facilitated conversation.

The conversations for parents are open to parents with kids of all ages and meet about twice a month for an hour and a half, 9:30am-11am, between October and December 2024. Each session is a facilitated conversation on topics related to parenting through Jewish lenses. Each session is a stand-alone unit, and you are welcome to attend as few or as many sessions as you would like.

LOCATION UPDATE:
*12/14 Bereishit Parents & Young Children Cohort will be held at Simpson-Hamline United Methodist Church (4501 16th St NW).

CHILDCARE:
Childcare is provided for pre-kindergarten kids (ages 5 and under). They will engage in creative play with a Jewish focus-- such as holiday and Shabbat art projects.  Please ensure the children who need childcare are registered by the Wednesday before the session to ensure we have adequate supervision.

We are grateful for support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington that has helped make this new program possible.

If you have children 5 and under that will be utilizing the Bereishit childcare during sessions, please list their information here. We need an accurate count of children attending each session to have adequate planning and supervision. Please ensure children are registered by the Wednesday before the session they are attending.

ACCESS INFORMATION

We will meet indoors at Simpson-Hamline United Methodist Church, with the program held in the Narthex (the lobby at the front of the Sanctuary). The primary entrance is the 16th Street entrance, which provides access to the sanctuary via a ramp, or via 1.5 flights of stairs from the Allison Street entrance. If you need assistance entering the building, please call Lauren at 206-455-1876.

After dropping off children, parents should proceed through the sanctuary and downstairs, following the hallway to the room located just before the Allison Street entrance (the usual drop-off area for Kollel families).

Restrooms include a single-stall bathroom with a grab bar in the office hallway near the backdoor of the sanctuary (look for signs), and a multi-stall, all-gender bathroom on the first floor near the Allison Street entrance.

For additional questions about the space or event, or to discuss accessibility needs, please email access@newsynagogueproject.org. We look forward to welcoming you!
