NSP Covid-19 Event Agreements

We want programming to be available to as many congregants as possible, while maintaining our commitment to pikuach nefesh, safeguarding life, as a central value: “We hold that to save one member of our community is to save and preserve the entire community of NSP and beyond.” In pursuit of keeping each other as safe as possible, attendees to NSP in-person programming must adhere to the following safety guidelines.

1. All attendees of NSP in-person events must be fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means two shots plus a booster for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and one shot plus booster for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Children under 6 months old are exempted from the vaccine requirement, and children under 5 years old are exempted from the booster requirement. If you have any questions regarding this policy, vaccine eligibility, or should you require a medical exemption, please contact Rabbi Yosef: rabbi@newsynagogueproject.org.

2. Masking is required for all indoor meetings and the use of indoor spaces (e.g. bathrooms) at outdoor events. Attendees over 2 years old must wear a mask. High-quality masks are strongly recommended, such as N95 or KN95 masks without a vent. Extra high-quality masks will be provided at NSP events. Unacceptable face coverings include gaiters, bandanas, or similar. Masks must cover the nose and mouth entirely and be on for the duration of the event (with exceptions for food and drink, if outdoors). Service leaders and speakers may unmask while leading if they receive a negative Covid test and maintain more than 6ft of distance.

3.
Rapid testing is required for all indoor meetings for attendees over 2 years old. Attendees are asked to take a rapid test shortly before attending indoor meetings and to only attend if their test result is negative. Free rapid tests are available at the DC public libraries, and extra tests will be provided at NSP events.

 4. As of February 2022, masking at outdoor NSP events is no longer required and is optional for all participants.

5. Members may not attend if they currently have any common symptoms of Covid-19, including cough, sneezing, fever, chills, or nausea. Members may not attend if they are waiting on the result of a Covid-19 test due to possible or confirmed exposure to Covid-19 or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 in the last 14 days.

 6. Registration will be capped at 75% of the venue's capacity. Seating will be set up to allow for distancing. In regards to distancing, please be mindful that not everyone has the same risk tolerance, and some attendees will likely want to remain socially distanced. Please ask before hugging or standing in close proximity to other attendees and when possible, maintain distance from others who are not in your pod.

Accessibility Information

CART captioning will be provided for all online High Holiday events.

Donation

We are once again keeping our core High Holiday programs free of charge to be as financially accessible as possible.

We ask those who are able to support our programs by making a sliding scale tax-deductible donation according to their ability to pay.

Total expenses for NSP's High Holidays programming is expected to exceed $50,000. If every attendee contributed equally, our breakeven cost would be $140 per household. However, pursuing the value of economic justice, all are invited to our spaces, regardless of ability to pay.

Therefore, we ask community members with greater financial privilege and power to support our community and its diverse membership by providing what they can, proportional to income:

Household Income      Suggested High Holidays Gift

$40,000                             $18

$50,000                             $36

$60,000                             $54

$70,000                             $72

$80,000                             $108

$90,000                             $144

$100,000                           $216

$150,000                           $450

$200,000+                         $630

In keeping with our theme of Hayinu K'cholmim: Radical Imagination, we are once again reimagining our prayer services to include the addition of a machzor, a High Holidays prayerbook. If you are able, we request a donation of $25-40 for each household member who will be using a machzor to help us afford the cost of this community investment. If your finances allow and you wish to make a greater impact, we welcome additional donations of machzorim for community members who can't afford one. This donation will help our community to have High Holy Day prayerbooks not only for this year but for many years to come. We deeply appreciate your generosity!

If you would like to donate by check, leave the donation field blank on this form and make check payable to New Synagogue Project. Checks can be mailed to:

PO Box 43153, Washington, DC 20010
